Poor Night's Sleep

I got into bed at 845.
I felt totally exhausted.
I had been doing much walking in the summer heat and sweating.
I have slight sunburn on my face this morning.
I was carrying my duffel bag and laptop.
Toward the end of the day I needed to stop every few blocks to rest.

My body and mind were very ready for a deep and refreshing sleep.
But useful sleep did not happen for reasons I will tell you.

Many dozens of times I almost feel asleep then was woken by a sound.
The lights go out at 1030 PM and come on at 500 AM.
When the lights are on the men were talking and joking.
Doors were opening and closing.

The room where I stayed was a converted warehouse I guess.
There were more than 200 beds in this huge open space.
The beds were metal hospital beds long ago that had cranks to adjust them.
Also on that third floor there are other large rooms with men.
The second floor has women and children .

These beds can make a metal sound when getting into and out of them
There were men going to the bathroom all during the night.
Sometimes getting into and out of bed made a metal noise.

There was much coughing by many men the whole time.
That is easy to ignore while awake.
But when drifting off to sleep it woke me up dozens of times.

My legs had cramps in them from all the walking.
They sometimes flared up when I turned in my sleep
I could massage them to relieve the pains.
But then the coughing kept me awake longer.

That was the worst night’s sleep of my life.
It was on a night I needed refreshing sleep the most.
I woke up with a stuffy head.
My shoulders are sore from the straps of the duffel yesterday.
I have small red spot on my left forearm this morning.
I hope that is not a rash.
They have huge industrial fans in the room for circulation.
The hum was nice and so was the breeze.
But what the men coughed got spread.

Very early in the morning I walked from the homeless shelter to the community college.
All along that walk I was spontaneously moaning due to the fatigue and pains.
When I started to write this my mind was very fuzzy.
Thankfully my thinking is getting better during the writing.

The good news is that I can stay there for 4 more nights for free.
The bad news is I am not sure what that might do to my health and strength,.

I am reminded of one of my least favorite Bible verses.
God said His power is made perfect in weakness.
That comes right after He says His grace is sufficient. (2Cor 12.9)
I feel very weak physically.
In most other ways I am weak.
My assets include my deeply founded faith in God to answers many prayers.
Another asset is that I am ready and willing to follow guidance from Jesus Christ.
A third asset is that God has been preparing me for this season of my life.

I appreciate that many people are concerned for me and they have been praying.
The Lord has begun to show me how to best use the next week.
The seven days at the missionary residence can be used in great ways.
I have a faint idea of how use that time in an optimal way.
The aim is to come away from there both meeting my living expenses and launching the ministry.
Pray for me to be able to write a simple summary of His guidance soon.

The biggest obstacle in gaining income is the effort to find shelter daily.

I have a limited amount of cash on hand.
130 dollars
I could go rent a room for tonight.
That might be best for my health and strength.
I can rent one more night if the price is about 50 dollars with taxes.
But then I would have very little left for food, bus fare and haircut.

What I want is to connect with people who will sponsor my lodging tonight and tomorrow.
They can call the Motel 6 and pay with plastic.
That will give me some margin with the use of cash.
I know I can raise the money for the missionary housing.
I have raised hundreds of dollars before in a short time.
But that was when others had prayed and I had access to a phone.
Motel 6 has free local calls in the room.

If you feel God leading you to help me with this housing then let me know now.

I know these messages have been many and long.
I am in a critical condition and I thank you for reading them.
What happens in my life in the coming days will have impact for years.
There will be impact on the kingdom of God depending on what I do or do not do.
Some of the best intercessors have told me over the years to tell all the details.
But I realize most people do not want all the details.
So starting soon I will offer some options as follows:
These will be on a blog where a person can go and an email list to subscribe.

FAQs
I have written many words in the last few days.
But surely people have questions.
I welcome questions.
I will answer the best I can personally.
If there is a pattern in the questions then I will write a general answer and share that.
Do you have questions?
If so then let me know.

JUST REQUESTS AND TESTIMONIES
Some people just want to pray.
They do not care about the details of the stories.
They want testimonies of answered prayers too.
I can offer this option.

SHORT DAILY SUMMARY
Lot of folks just want the highlights.
I can offer this option.
Would you be interested?

Please pray for the following:
Find a sponsor for 2 nights at Motel 6.
Find one or more sponsors for a week at the missionary housing.
Receive clear guidance from God about how to use the week at the missionary housing.
Enroll more people to pray and communicate with them effectively.
Have more than enough money one day at a time.

Shalom
