LEASE
There have been complications is renewing the lease at my apartment in Ennis.
I moved here July first of last year. I signed a one year lease that is up for renewal. That is simple.
But what makes it complicated is that the owner wanted to increase my rent. So the apartment manager and I went to the office in Dallas. That was a few months ago. The rent increase was officially approved then. But she has not gotten any confirming paperwork since. She has called many times and left voicemails.
My part of the rent will increase a little too. I have called and left voicemails. I have sent emails.
There is an online portal for the landlord and me, the renter. Both of us have gone the potholes and got zero response.
There has been zero snail mail.
Thankfully a majority of my rent has been paid because that part of the Section 8 Housing system is working.
Darlene works with 2 other housing authorities and they communicate with her right away.
So please pray for Dallas Housing Authority to make contact with Darlene soon. May these matters be settled so I can renew my lease.
It took 12 months of searching and praying to get to this apartment. I am very pleased with it. I find it to be peaceful and safe. My neighbors are friendly. Ennis is a small town with folks that are not in a big hurry.
INCOME
Also, pray for my cash flow for the coming weeks.
I turned 65 in April. Then the Medicare began to take 134 dollars out of my monthly check.
My insurance agent said I qualify for Medicaid. I applied and was approved. I was told that they will cover the 134 dollars but that could take 60 to 90 days. So my cash flow has been very thin lately. I needed to get help to keep my electricity from getting cut off one time.
Thankfully that 134 dollars will not be deducted from my income at the end of July or August.
I have been making gradual progress in the online ministry. This cash flow pinch has me motivated to release some parts to the public sooner than I had planned. That will lead to more prayer support and some donations to bridge this gap.
FOOD
One of the big blessings, since I moved here, was to receive 2 or more bags of produce each week. A pastor in Ennis has been going to North Texas Food Bank. He has brought a pickup full of vegetables and fruits for the dozens of senior citizens that live here. I have been appointed to lead those operations. I enjoy such community service.
However, for the last 3 weeks, there has been zero food delivery from them. I do not know why. I left a voicemail to learn how we can pray.
My food stamps are put on my special debit card on the 5th of the month. Then I get a ride to buy my groceries at Walmart. This coming week might be a season of modified fasting.
Before June we received food deliveries 3 or 4 times a month. So that was a huge blessing to the nutrition and budget of my neighbors.
CONCLUSION
I receive my social security income on the fourth Wednesday and that was yesterday. So my finances are decent today. But because the funds were removed for the last 3 months my wants have been on hold. God has met my needs. And again I got a practical lesson in the difference between my needs and my wants.
I have been missing the bags of groceries so I have been eating less and decreasing the stores in my pantry.
I am powerless to make the housing authority do anything. I am not at risk of eviction. But I want this matter resolved soon.
I intend to start online discussions about prayer within about a week. Pray for me to learn how to use this service named Voicethread. Then the webinars and ecourse will follow.
When I make this general update I rarely request direct donations. But I find myself in a very tight situation. So please pray over the following links.
